Hold on Custom Straight Razor Orders

In the interest of fulfilling existing orders and shortening lead times, Portland Razor Co. is not accepting requests for custom straight razors at this time.

Existing custom projects will be addressed in the order they were received.

We will re-open for future custom projects once we have made significant headway on our backorder and have additional blade smiths on staff.

Custom Scales are still available with standard blades for a $60 fee on top of the base price (more, for rare materials). Please email info@portlandrazorco.com prior to ordering for information on availability, and view our Instagram for examples of past projects.

Custom Etchings are also available for a $25 setup fee. These can include a name, date, initials, or phrases up to about 20 characters in length.

Making a product by hand affords the maker flexibility when it comes to implementing new designs, and so when a customer came to us with a design idea or a unique material, we always went above and beyond to realize their vision. Working on new designs is a lot of fun! and many of those projects informed the changes we made to our latest generation of straight razors, including the soon-to-be-released Artisan Line. Unfortunately, as our standard razors improved and grew in popularity, the amount of time we could commit to custom projects waned, and the energy we would otherwise exert towards those creative endeavors was swallowed necessarily during production.

If you have been keeping up with the blog, you are likely aware of the string of bad luck we've had here at Portland Razor Co. Being backordered and shorthanded is a difficult situation to be in, forcing us to prioritize certain projects over others (hence the delay in releasing the Artisan Line of straight razors). While we would like to continue taking on custom projects, it has become clear to us that we need to prioritize shortening our backorder and training new blade smiths.

In closing, I'd like to thank everyone who has written in with their encouragement, prayers, and support for Scott and the team. Words cannot adequately express how thankful we are to be surrounded and supported by such thoughtful, wonderful people!
